Record Amount of Training held/committed for 2016 in Maxi Haulage
Training and development is a huge part of what we do at Maxi Haulage.
Each year our spend and activity level rises and has risen over each of the past 5 years.
Our Managing Director, Alan Miles, commented “developing people is core to what we try to achieve. Where possible we try and recruit from within and that means serious development and training. In a 12-month period we have put 18 people through intensive in-house development programmes. There is some detail elsewhere on the website re what this involves. ”
The training takes place at most levels – as an example Alan Miles, Managing Director, has done the IOSH MANAGING SAFETY course.
Four of our senior managers have done CPC holders refresher courses
Other courses have been:
- internal audit course
- one of our driver facing team are about to start CIPD certificate with Chatered Institute of Personnel and Development
- our engineering department have run defect clinics for drivers – how to do a better dailycheck and spot defect/reporting of defects
- driver CPC – by November we will have delivered 14 hrs of driver CPC at each site
- safe urban driving – 44 drivers at Warwick
- forklift licenses – all warehouse staff at our Heathcote Warwick depot have had licenses renewed and all Wrexham drivers and yard staff and several new starts have had training course
- all our driver HIAB certificates have been renewed
- further opcom training meaning our Bellshill, Warwick, Heathcote Warwick Cape depots have retained gold standard
- our Driver Liaison Manager has passed quality auditor tests following training
- our DGSA has, following intense course, renewed their certificate
- we have completed fire training and first aid courses as well for a number of staff
- safe economic driving training
- dangerous goods by sea
Training and development is never complete.
In next 12 months much more training and development is planned including refresher training.
