In 1999 I joined Sky TV as an engineer installing Sky digital satellite equipment in customers’ homes.
Health and Safety has always been an area and topic I have been passionate about and after spending a few years carrying out satellite installations I took on the role as an in-house trainer for Sky delivering the safety training to field engineers and managers. I worked on many projects during my time with the company which included delivering apprentice programmes, specialised working at height training and getting training courses accredited by recognised awarding bodies.
After nearly 17 years at Sky, I decided to take on a new challenge in a totally different work sector and took on a job within the retail and logistics sector with a focus on Health & Safety. Previously I have worked for one of the UK’s fastest growing discount retailers, where I worked in the logistics side of the business as a Health & Safety Manager in a safety critical environment. I was responsible for the management of Health and Safety in 2 large warehouse distribution centres delivering products to over 500 stores a day.
With a large fleet of vehicles and trailers, including onsite vehicle maintenance units, I was responsible for ensuring that the Health and Safety management systems were effective and compliant in the warehouses and transport functions of the business.
In 2023 I decided to challenge myself further and take my career to the next level but with an additional focus on haulage. When the offer came to join Maxi Haulage based in Warrington I was delighted, and I am very happy and proud to be part of the family business as I start a new chapter in my career.
In the short time I have been here I have been made feel very welcome and made feel part of a team. I am amazed at the support and help that everyone I have met so far has given me, and I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the team in Maxi throughout the country where I will learn more about the company and our ways of working together.
