Maxi Haulage Development Programme 2016 is full steam ahead!

7 Maxi future bright stars from across England & Scotland are gaining an insight into what it takes to steer the company forwards.

Monday 7th November marked the first day of a 2 week course for 7 of Maxi’s finest. A mix of operations and head office staff from various depots have come together as one to learn from the expert himself, Managing Director Alan Miles.

The Maxi ethos is to promote from within and at senior management level it is not usual for the company to externally recruit. This provides massive opportunities for progression within. Looking at previous year’s course we can see Andrew McGuire from Warwick and Adam Duffy from Warrington all in senior management positions. Tom Jackson was another participant, he says “The development course has been a big boost to my career at Maxi. I was definitely pushed out of my comfort zone but I learnt so much and really enjoyed the experience.”

So what can we expect from the course? Obviously no mercy from Alan, if you don’t know the answer to a question he is going to make you work for it. Constructive criticism to help you learn & develop and a sore brain if you make it to the end of day 2! Lateral thinking, profit & loss, listening skills, driver recruitment, business trends and Brexit are just a few of the topics we will be covering. The guys can also expect presentations from other senior members of the team & Director Robin Allan shows us what he does best – corporate entertaining!

All in all the team are really looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.  Cherry Littler from Warrington depot commented “This is fantastic opportunity to be a part of this development programme, I am really looking forward to gaining knowledge from Alan & the team to further my career at Maxi.”
