Long Term Maxi Director Retires

Below is a tribute that our Managing Director, Alan Miles made to Robin in an email to all staff at Maxi Haulage:

This Friday is a sad but special day, Robin Allan retires from full time work, however that is the only bad news!

The good news is, he will be staying on as a non-executive director and will also be doing some project work for me.

Everyone who knows Robin remarks what a special person he is, he is more than a valued work colleague, we have laughed together and cried together. He makes other people feel special and valued, no task is too big or too small. He is very much a people person, someone to bounce ideas off, his social skills are legendary.

I have never met anyone who cares so much and has such a pride in his work. He truly loves our customers, He makes working enjoyable, He has helped keep me sane for almost 24 years.

His advice is invaluable.

In later life he has developed a second career that of a spotter ask him about that and his connections with Daniel Craig, He got told off by the three Irish tenors again ask him why

he can get people out of their comfort zones like getting some nuns to sing some Beatles numbers.

He became a member of the cast of Mamma Mia again, feel free to ask him how and why.

Covid has unfortunately delayed some of the events planned to mark his retirement, however they will happen soon.

One of the most memorable events for me was seeing Robin with his mum who clearly had so much pride in the man her son became

I was at Robins Mums funeral and he was at my Mums funeral last year, another special bond we both share. Both Robin and I lost our fathers too early, that is something that has jointly moulded and shape our lives.

We have sung in many venues together and got told of by our Wives accordingly another thing in common, however it is fair to say we did not make much money at singing.

So, Robin my friend, my Best Friend – enjoy retirement, keep enjoying life, you are lucky to have such a wonderful and loving family.

Lots of memories have been made and lots still to make.

Good luck
